Monoravir mechanism of action

Monoravir is an isobutyric acid prodrug of N4-hydroxycytidine (NHC, EIDD-1931). It is an antiviral ribonucleoside analogue that is phosphorylated in cells to form pharmacologically active ribonucleoside triphosphate (NHC-TP). The two tautomeric forms of NHC-TP are analogs of cytidine triphosphate (CTP) and uridine triphosphate (UTP), which can be incorporated into viral RNA through viral RNA polymerase (RdRp) and directly bind to guanosine (G) or adenosine (A), leading to the accumulation of errors in the viral genome, mutating the RNA product, thereby inhibiting viral replication.
