[Drug name]

Common name: Mirtazapine tablets

Chinese Pinyin: MiDanPingPian

[Ingredients]

Mirtazapine

[Indications]

For the treatment of depression.

[Usage and Dosage]

1. This tablet should be taken orally. If necessary, it can be taken with water. It should be swallowed and should not be chewed.

2. Adults: The effective dose is usually 15-45 mg per day. The starting dose of treatment should be 15 or 30 mg (higher doses should be taken at night). The clearance rate of mirtazapine may be reduced in patients with hepatic and renal insufficiency, and care should be taken when using Remelon in such patients. The half-life of mirtazapine, the active ingredient in Sandoz Mirtazapine Tablets, is 20 to 40 hours, so the drug is suitable for taking once a day (preferably before going to bed). This medicine can also be taken in divided doses (eg once in the morning and once in the evening).

3. The patient should take the medication continuously, and it is best to gradually stop the medication four to six months after the symptoms have completely disappeared. When dosed appropriately, the drug should have significant effects within two to four weeks. If the effect is not significant enough, the dose can be increased up to the maximum dose. However, if there is no effect after increasing the dose for two to four weeks, the drug should be stopped.

[Adverse reactions]

1. Since patients with depression often show some symptoms caused by the disease itself, it is difficult to distinguish which adverse reactions are caused by the use of Remelon.

2. The most common adverse reactions reported, occurring in more than 5% of randomized placebo-controlled clinical trials of Remelon (see below), include drowsiness, sedation, dry mouth, weight gain, increased appetite, dizziness and fatigue. Adverse effects of Remelon have been evaluated in randomized, placebo-controlled trials in all patients, including conditions other than major depression. The meta-analysis included 20 clinical trials with planned treatment durations of up to 12 weeks, in which 1501 patients (134 person-years) received mirtazapine at doses up to 60 mg/day.

[Contraindications]

1. It is prohibited for those who are allergic to mirtazapine or any component of this product.

2. The combined use of mirtazapine and monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors is prohibited.

[Precautions]

1. Use of Remelon in children and adolescents under 18 years old. Remelon cannot be used in children and adolescent patients under 18 years old. In clinical observations of children taking antidepressants, suicide-related behaviors (suicide attempts and suicidal intentions) and hostile behaviors (significant violence, oppositional behavior, and anger) were more common in children taking antidepressants than in children taking placebo. If the decision is made to take this drug based on clinical necessity, the patient should be closely monitored for suicidal symptoms. In addition, there is a lack of long-term safety data on the effects of mirtazapine on growth, development, cognitive and behavioral development in children and adolescents.

2.Suicide/suicidal ideation or clinical worsening Depression is accompanied by an increased risk of suicidal ideation, self-harm, and suicide (suicide-related events).
