[Pharmacological effects of Revlimid]

The active ingredient lenalidomide is mainly used to treat chronic myeloma and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) with 5q deletion. Lenalidomide is a new generation derivative of thalidomide, but it has not been found to have teratogenic properties and is 100 times more effective than thalidomide.

According to the results of phase III clinical trials, lenalidomide is currently the most effective drug in the treatment of multiple myeloma. More than half of patients can extend their survival time to more than 3 years after taking this drug. In addition, it is also the only drug that can effectively treat myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). Clinical results have found that 64% of MDS patients no longer need blood transfusions to treat MDS after treatment with lenalidomide.
