Pharmacological effects

Using adsorbent spherical particulate activated carbon substances, IS precursors and p-cresol can be selectively adsorbed in the gastrointestinal tract to reduce the chance of human absorption, but they will not be absorbed by the human gastrointestinal tract.


Indications

Emergency treatment of patients poisoned by drugs or chemicals.

Adsorbs bacterial toxins, digestive toxins and other organic wastes that interfere with the gastrointestinal tract, and relieves intestinal gas and related symptoms.


Usage and Dosage

1. Adults and children over 12 years old: In case of acute poisoning, use 50-100 grams of activated carbon as soon as possible. In severe poisoning, after taking the initial dose, another 20 grams of activated carbon should be taken every 4 to 6 hours for several days.

2. Children under 12 years old: The recommended dose of activated carbon for children is 1 gram of activated carbon per kilogram of body weight. In case of acute poisoning, 10-50 grams of activated carbon should be given depending on the child's weight and degree of poisoning; young children should be given an initial dose of 10-20 grams of activated carbon, and the dose can be repeated according to the doctor's instructions after a few minutes; for older children, try to give a large dose of 30-50 grams of activated carbon.


Side effects

Constipation, melena, and diarrhea.


Interaction

When other drugs are used together, considering that this product is an adsorbent, it should not be used at the same time.


Contraindications

1. Activated charcoal cannot be used when patients must take oral medications or take special antidote.

2. For patients suffering from gastrointestinal transport disorder (transit disorder), "Kuyu" Cremet may interfere with excretion.


Precautions

1. Patients with peptic ulcer or esophageal varices should be careful when taking this product. (This product passes through the digestive tract in a solid state and may irritate the passing area)

2. Since it is ineffective against poisoning caused by corrosive substances, if it is determined that poisoning is caused by corrosive substances, avoid using this product.
