度他雄胺(Dutasteride)治疗前列腺增生的效果好吗?
About Dutasteride
It is suitable for treating moderate and severe symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), reducing the risk of acute urinary retention (AUR) and surgery, and can also reduce the incidence of prostate cancer to a certain extent. In addition, dutasteride can also treat androgenic alopecia.
The mechanism of action of Dutasteride
Dutasteride reduces the content of dihydrotestosterone in the prostate by inhibiting the activity of 5α-reductase to achieve the purpose of reducing prostate volume. It is suitable for the treatment of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia who have increased prostate volume and are accompanied by moderate to severe urinary frequency, urgency, dysuria and other lower urinary tract symptoms.
Dutasteride treats prostatic hyperplasia
Dutasteride (Dutasteride) reduces the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by inhibiting type 1 and type 2 5-reductase isoenzymes in the body. DHT is the main androgen that causes prostatic hyperplasia, so dutasteride can effectively treat symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Research shows that dutasteride is effective in treating prostatic hyperplasia. It can reduce prostate volume and improve symptoms such as difficulty urinating, frequent urination, and urgency. Long-term medication has a more obvious effect on larger prostates. Dutasteride is an effective option for patients with BPH who require medical treatment.
Dutasteride 0.5 mg/day plus tamsulosin 0.4 mg/day improved lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) significantly more than dutasteride or tamsulosin alone in men with prostatic hyperplasia, moderate-to-severe LUTS, and increased risk of disease progression, according to results from a randomized, double-blind, multinational combat trial. After 2 years (primary endpoint) and 4 years of treatment, the mean change from baseline in the International Prostate Symptom Total Score was significantly greater in the dutasteride plus tamsulosin group than in the dutasteride or tamsulosin group.
After 4 years of treatment in the CombAT trial, timing to first acute urinary retention or prostatic hyperplasia-related surgery significantly favored patients with symptomatic prostatic hyperplasia who received dutasteride plus tamsulosin, while there was no significant difference between patients who received dutasteride plus tamsulosin and those who received dutasteride.
Dosing Guide
The recommended dosage is one capsule (0.5 mg) once a day, which can be taken with or without food. Treatment takes 6 months.
Contraindications
1. Contraindicated for women, children and adolescents.
2. It is prohibited for those allergic to dutasteride, other 5α-reductase inhibitors or any excipients.
3. It is forbidden for patients with severe liver function impairment.
After taking the medicine, you need to pay attention to adverse reactions such as erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorder, breast pain, and low sexual desire. If these reactions occur, you need to seek medical treatment in time.
Summary
Dutasteride is an effective, safe, and well-tolerated treatment for the treatment of symptomatic prostatic hyperplasia, either as monotherapy or in combination with an alpha-blocker, to improve symptoms and reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and surgical risks associated with prostatic hyperplasia.
