Desirox治疗铁质积聚疗效怎样？

Desirox can be used in patients with iron accumulation due to long-term blood transfusion (such as thalassemia or other rare anemias). It is suitable for children over two years old and adults. So, how effective is it in treating iron buildup?

Therapeutic benefits of Desirox for treating iron buildup:

To explore the clinical efficacy of Desirox and deferoxamine in the treatment of children with iron overload in β-thalassemia major.

47 children with iron overload of β-thalassemia major were collected and divided into two groups according to different treatment plans: 26 cases in the observation group were treated with Desirox, and 21 cases in the control group were treated with deferoxamine.

After 12 months of treatment, the therapeutic effects, serum ferritin (SF), adverse reactions, and heart and liver magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) T2 examination results of the two groups of children were compared.

Results: After 12 months of treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups (P>0.05); the total control rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the heart and liver T2 values of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was statistical significance (P<0.05); after 12 months of treatment, the SF level of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).

Conclusion: The short-term effect of Desirox in treating iron overload in β-thalassemia major is significantly better than that of deferoxamine. It significantly reduces SF levels, especially the effect of iron removal in the liver, and reduces the occurrence of adverse reactions, which deserves clinical attention.

In addition, it should be taken on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before meals, once a day, preferably at the same time every day. Tablets should not be chewed or swallowed whole. Desirox dispersible tablets should not be taken together with aluminum-containing antacids. Dissolve the tablets completely in water, apple juice or orange juice (100-200mL) by stirring until a clear suspension is obtained and drink it. The remaining drug must be added with a small amount of water, apple juice or orange juice and mixed well before taking it. Not recommended for dissolution in carbonated drinks or milk as it can cause foaming and slow dispersion.
