How to use Imaavy (nipocalimab-aahu)

Imaavy (nipocalimab-aahu) is a biologic specifically indicated for the treatment of generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) in adult and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older who are positive for anti-acetylcholine receptor (AChR) or anti-muscle-specific kinase (MuSK) antibodies. The medication method includes preparation before administration, recommended dosage, administration method and precautions.

Before starting useImaavy requires a thorough patient assessment, especially regarding immunizations. Before starting immunization, the need for age-appropriate vaccines should be determined according to relevant immunization guidelines. This is because Imaavy may cause a temporary drop in IgG levels in the body, so it is not recommended to receive live vaccines while using Imaavy to avoid potential risk of infection.

In terms of dosage,The recommended initial dose of Imaavy is 30 mg/kg, which must be administered by intravenous infusion and the infusion time should be at least 30 minutes. Two weeks after the initial dose, patients are required to receive a maintenance dose of 15 mg/kg infused over a minimum of 15 minutes. Thereafter, maintenance doses need to be given every two weeks. If a patient misses a scheduled infusion, the maintenance dose of Imaavy should be replenished as soon as possible and then continued at the biweekly frequency.

During the preparation and administration of the drug, dilution ofImaavy is required. The specific steps are to use 0.9% sodium chloride injection to dilute this product. For patients weighing 40kg and above, the total dose required is 250mL; for patients 12 years and older weighing less than 40kg, the total dose required is 100mL. After preparation is completed, make sure there are no bubbles and follow strict aseptic operating procedures to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the drug.
