What are the precautions for Idecabtagene vicleucel?
In the clinical study of Idecabtagene vicleucel in the treatment of relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (MM), warnings and precautions such as cytokine release syndrome, infectious diseases, other cancer risks, neurological problems, etc. emerged. Discontinue and resume at reduced dose upon recovery, or permanently discontinue based on severity.
1. Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS): Ekavilenza can cause a very common side effect called cytokine release syndrome, which may be serious or fatal. Symptoms of CRS include fever, difficulty breathing, dizziness or lightheadedness, nausea, headache, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure, or fatigue. If you develop fever or any other symptoms, tell your doctor immediately.
2. Infectious diseases: Akivelense can increase the risk of fatal infections, leading to death. Tell your doctor right away if you develop fever, chills, or any signs or symptoms of infection. It may also lower the number of one or more types of blood cells (red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets), which may make people feel weak or tired, or increase the risk of serious infection or bleeding. After treatment, blood tests will be performed. Tell your doctor right away if you have a fever, feel tired, have bruising, or bleeding.
3. Risks of other cancers: Ekavilenza may increase patients' risk of cancer, including certain types of blood cancers called T-cell malignancies. Healthcare providers should monitorpatients.
4. Nervous problems. Ekavilenza may also cause life-threatening neurological problems, blood disorders, or other life-threatening reactions. If the person has speech problems, thinking or memory problems, confusion, seizures, fatigue, shortness of breath, or chest pain, tell a caregiver or seek emergency medical care.
5. Containing Ekavilenza in the blood may cause false positive results in certain tests for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Be sure to tell your healthcare provider that you have receivedHIV and show them proof of it. Medical staff may provide patients with other medications to treat illnesses and side effects of medications.
