What is tepotinib?
Tepotinib contains the active substance tepotinib and is a cancer drug used to treat adult patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), when the cancer is advanced and their cells have a specific genetic mutation (change) that causes the mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition factor gene exon 14 (metex14) to be skipped. This means that the cancer cells produce an abnormal form of a protein called MET because a part of the MET gene called exon 14 is not used.
Tepotinib can be used when patients require further treatment after receiving immunotherapy or platinum-based chemotherapy, or both, but it is only available by prescription and treatment should be initiated and supervised by a physician experienced in the use of cancer drugs. Before starting treatment, patients' cancers should be tested to confirmMETex14 skipping mutations. The recommended dose of tepotinib is 450 mg once daily. Treatment can be discontinued until the patient no longer benefits from it.
The original drug of Tepotinib is a new type of drug that is not yet on the market in China and therefore has not been included in the medical insurance.
