How much does a box of tremelimumab cost?
Tremelimumab is a cancer drug used to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has metastasized (spread to other parts of the body) in adults who have not received previous treatment. It is used along with durvalumab (another cancer drug) and platinum-based chemotherapy drugs, and is used when the cancer does not have mutations (changes) in the genes called EGFR and ALK.
Tremelimumab, which contains the active ingredient tremelimumab, is used to treat hepatocellular carcinoma (a type of liver cancer), which is rare, in patients who have not previously received treatment and whose disease is advanced or unresectable (cannot be removed with surgery). Tremelimumab was designated as an "orphan drug" (a drug for rare diseases) on December 9, 2020. It is designed to attach to and block CTLA-4, a protein that controls the activity of T cells, which are part of the immune system. By blocking CTLA-4, the drug increases the number and activity of T cells, which can then kill cancer cells, which hopefully slows the spread of cancer.
Tesetumumab is an emerging cancer immunotherapy drug. It is a prescription drug and has not yet been launched in China. Therefore, it has not been included in the medical insurance list. Domestic patients cannot yet purchase this drug. The U.S. version of temsitumumab the original drug has been on the market overseas for a short time and is sold under the trade name Imjudo. The price is not yet clear, and there are currently no generic versions of temsitumumab produced and launched. For specific prices and drug details, please consult a medical consultant.
