Which drugs are more effective in combination with Trelagliptin?
Trelagliptin (Trelagliptin), as a DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) inhibitor, plays an important role in the treatment of type 2 diabetes . Its main mechanism of action is to inhibit the activity of DPP-4 enzyme and prolong the action time of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulin-releasing peptide), thereby enhancing the secretion of insulin, inhibiting the secretion of glucagon, and effectively controlling blood sugar levels. Trelagliptin is usually more effective as a monotherapy, but in some cases, combined with other drugs can further enhance the hypoglycemic effect and help patients better manage blood sugar.

The combination of trolagliptin and metformin (Metformin) is a common treatment option. Metformin, a cornerstone drug in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, lowers blood sugar by improving insulin sensitivity and reducing hepatic glucose production. Metformin mainly controls fasting blood sugar, while trotagliptin improves postprandial blood sugar control and increases insulin secretion. Therefore, when used together, the two can effectively control blood sugar levels throughout the day, especially postprandial blood sugar. This combination therapy not only reduces the side effects of monotherapy but also reduces the risk of diabetes-related complications.
Tretagliptin can also be used in combination with sulfonylureas (such as glimepiride) to achieve better hypoglycemic effects. Sulfonylureas lower blood sugar by stimulating pancreatic isletβ cells to secrete insulin. When used in combination with trolagliptin, trolagliptin enhances the effect of insulin secretion by prolonging the effect of endogenous GLP-1. The synergistic effect of the two can better control postprandial blood sugar. However, it should be noted that sulfonylureas have the potential to cause hypoglycemia, and blood glucose levels need to be monitored closely when used together, especially at higher doses.
Generally speaking, when used together, patients should reasonably adjust the drug dosage according to the doctor's advice to avoid adverse reactions such as hypoglycemia.
