Besponsa/Besponsa is an anti-cancer drug mainly used to treat acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Its mechanism of action is to target a specific antigen (CD22) expressed on the surface of leukemia cells. When the drug is injected into a patient, it binds to the CD22 antigen on the surface of leukemia cells, then enters the cells and releases a molecule linked to a highly potent toxin. This toxin can interfere with the DNA synthesis and cell division processes of leukemia cells, leading to the death of leukemia cells. Common side effects of ogaituzumab include infection, anemia, fatigue, bleeding, etc. Additionally, the drug may cause side effects such as fever, nausea, headache, liver damage, abdominal pain, and high levels of bilirubin in the blood.
