Spironolactone vs. Eplerenone
Spironolactone and eplerenone (Eplerenone) are both aldosterone receptor antagonists and can be used to treat diseases such as hypertension and heart failure. Their mechanisms of action are similar, but there are some differences. Eplerenone is mainly suitable for congestive heart failure and anti-hypertension after acute myocardial infarction; it is a relatively selective aldosterone receptor antagonist with higher affinity for aldosterone receptors and therefore can block the effects of aldosterone more effectively. Spironolactone is mainly used to treat edema, hypertension, primary aldosteronism, and the prevention of hypokalemia. It is a non-selective aldosterone receptor antagonist that can block the combination of aldosterone and aldosterone receptors, thereby inhibiting the effect of aldosterone.
