Are there any serious side effects of Deferasirox dispersible tablets?

The most common side effect of Deferasirox is an increase in blood creatinine (a sign of kidney problems). Other common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, abdominal pain, constipation, headache, rash, itching, blood tests showing elevated transaminases (which may indicate liver damage), and protein in the urine. Cases of kidney and liver failure, and metabolic acidosis (where the body produces more acid than it excretes) have been reported with deferasirox dispersible tablets. Kidney and liver tests should be performed before starting treatment and regularly during treatment. Depending on the test results, treatment may need to be interrupted or stopped. Deferasirox dispersible tablets should not be used by people whose creatinine clearance is less than 60 ml per minute.
