Eculizumab (Eculizumab) This drug is only available by prescription. It is given as an intravenous infusion (drip) and usually starts to work within a few weeks of the injection. The specific time to take effect varies from individual to individual and depends on factors such as the severity of the patient's condition, the duration of the disease, and individual health conditions. Generally, most patients begin to experience improvements within a few weeks of the injection. Unless patients experience serious side effects, eculizumab should be taken for life. Patients with refractory generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) who do not respond to eculizumab after 12 weeks should also discontinue treatment.
