Is Alemtuzumab an immunotherapy?

Alemtuzumab (Alemtuzumab) is a biologic used to treat certain types of leukemia and autoimmune diseases. It is a monoclonal antibody that works by targeting the human CD52 antigen. CD52 is a protein widely expressed on the surface of lymphocytes, monocytes and eosinophils. Alemtuzumab induces apoptosis and cytotoxicity in the immune system by binding to the CD52 antigen, thereby inhibiting the function of abnormally proliferating lymphocytes and other immune cells. This drug is commonly used to treat conditions such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and multiple sclerosis (MS).
