It is primarily used to treat Bcell lymphoma, especially in adults with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). By inhibiting BTK, acotinib affects the abnormal signaling pathway in B cells. This pathway plays a key role in the growth and survival of B cells, so inhibiting it would be expected to slow or prevent the proliferation of leukemia cells.
