Is Mitotane useful for adrenal tumors?

Mitotane (Mitotane) is the only drug approved specifically for the treatment of adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). Depending on the patient's individual tumor characteristics and tumor stage, treatment with mitotane may be initiated when there is evidence of metastatic disease and sometimes after surgery, even if no residual tumor is found. The use of mitotane has been shown to be associated with prolonged survival in patients with adrenocortical cancer. In some studies, patients taking mitotane lived significantly longer, especially if the tumor had not spread to other sites or was unresectable with surgery. Mitotane can help slow the growth of adrenocortical cancer. Studies have shown that mitotane can inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells and thereby control tumor progression.
