Venetoclax benefits and side effects

Venetoclax (Venetoclax) is a small molecule inhibitor of BCL-2 (B-cell lymphoma-2), used to treat certain patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). BCL-2 is a protein that helps determine whether cells live or die. When venetoclax binds to BCL-2, it displaces other proteins and helps activate the apoptotic process. Although venetoclax is helpful in treating cancer, it is not a chemotherapy drug. The most common serious side effects are pneumonia, sepsis, neutropenia with or without fever, anemia, thrombocytopenia, hypokalemia, and bleeding.
