Ozamod (ozanimod) may work quickly in multiple sclerosis (MS) within months, although it may take up to a year to see significantly less disease progression, fewer relapses and less brain shrinkage than with standard treatments. Studies have shown that within 3 months of administration, patients taking Ozamod had a trend toward reduced disease progression compared with interferon-beta-1a (7.6% of Ozamod patients had disease progression). After one year of treatment, 78% of patients taking Ozamod remained relapse-free, and 76% of patients taking Ozamod remained relapse-free after 2 years. Patients who received ozanimod for one year had significantly fewer new or enlarging T2 hyperintense lesions on MRI compared with the interferon group (48% relative reduction).
