How to take opicapone

Opicapone (Opicapone) is a novel, once-daily, oral, peripheral, selective and reversible catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitor approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as an add-on treatment to levodopa/carbidopa for patients with Parkinson's disease experiencing "off" attacks. Opicapone inhibits the COMT enzyme that breaks down levodopa, allowing more levodopa to reach the brain. There is currently no cure for Parkinson's disease, and management of the disease involves the use of treatments that attempt to control motor symptoms primarily through dopaminergic mechanisms.
