Gefitinib (Gefitinib) is a targeted drug. Targeted drugs are a class of drugs specifically designed to interfere with the growth and spread of cancer cells, and they generally have less impact on normal cells, relatively reducing adverse effects during treatment. The main effect of gefitinib is to inhibit the activity of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). EGFR is a protein that is overexpressed in many cancers and drives cancer cells to grow and divide. Gefitinib reduces the proliferation rate of cancer cells by blocking the EGFR signaling pathway, thereby inhibiting the growth of cancer. This drug is mainly used to treat EGFR mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In these patients, gefitinib can significantly improve survival and quality of life.
