Do I need to stop taking Rivaroxaban during surgery?

Rivaroxaban, the active ingredient in Rivaroxaban, is a "Factor Xa inhibitor," which means it blocks FactorXa, an enzyme involved in the generation of thrombin. If anticoagulant therapy must be discontinued to reduce the risk of bleeding during surgery or other procedures, rivaroxaban should be discontinued at least 24 hours before surgery to reduce the risk of bleeding.
