How to take Secukinumab
In some cases, the proteinIL-17A can cause inflammation, pain, and damage to certain parts of the body, such as joints. Secukinumab is a self-administered subcutaneous (subcutaneous) injection given every 4 weeks in doses of 150 mg or 300 mg, usually starting with a loading schedule of 150 mg weekly for the first 5 weeks, followed by monthly maintenance doses. The drug can be injected into the thigh or abdomen. Injection sites should be rotated so that the same site is not used more than once. Some patients will begin to see improvements within a few weeks, but it may take several months for full effects to be felt. You may need to take secukinumab for three weeks to a year before you start seeing benefits.
