Indications and uses of sofosbuvir and velpatasvir (Epclusa)

Epclusa combination contains Sofosbuvir and velpatasvir. Sofosbuvir and velpatasvir are antiviral drugs that prevent hepatitis C virus (HCV) from multiplying in the body. The combination of sofosbuvir and velpatasvir is used to treat chronic hepatitis C in adults and children 3 years and older (dose is based on weight). It is sometimes used in combination with ribavirin, another antiviral drug, in patients with advanced cirrhosis. The fosbuvir-velpatasvir combination treats specific genotypes of hepatitis C and is only effective in specific populations. The combination fosbuvir and velpatasvir is sometimes used in people living with HIV, but this medicine is not used to treat HIV or AIDS.
