Is voriconazole effective for bacterial infections?
Bacterial infectionVoriconazole (Voriconazole) has no effect. Voriconazole is a prescription broad-spectrum triazole antifungal drug that inhibits fungal cells and is used to treat serious fungal infections, especially aspergillosis. Aspergillosis usually affects the lungs, but sometimes other organs can be affected. Voriconazole works by stopping the growth of the fungus that causes the infection. When used to treat fungal infections, patients need to receive a higher initial dose (loading dose) on the first day with the goal of achieving stable blood levels. The loading dose is followed by a maintenance dose, which can be adjusted based on patient response. If a bacterial infection occurs the patient can use other drugs for treatment as directed by the doctor.
