Clofazimine (Clofazimine) is a drug used to treat leprosy and other related diseases. Its use may cause increased skin pigmentation and gradually darken the skin. This phenomenon, commonly known as "cutaneous pigmentation disease", is one of the common side effects of clofazimine. This pigmentation usually begins early in treatment and gradually worsens with long-term use of the drug. In most cases, this change is reversible, and skin pigmentation may slowly return to normal after the medication is discontinued. However, individual differences exist and some people may experience persistent pigmentation. During use of clofazimine, it is recommended to avoid overexposure to the sun and use sun protection to reduce the occurrence of pigmentation. If you are uncomfortable with skin darkening or have any other questions, you should communicate with your doctor promptly for further evaluation and management.
