Can clofazimine cause liver damage?
Clofazimine (Clofazimine) is a drug used to treat leprosy and non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections. It is mainly used in complex treatment regimens. Regarding the question of whether it can cause liver damage, current research and clinical use show that clofazimine is generally a relatively safe drug at normal doses. However, individual case reports indicate that a minority of patients may develop liver function abnormalities, including elevated liver enzymes and occasionally liver injury. Therefore, when using clofazimine, especially when used for a long time or in combination with other drugs, it is recommended to regularly monitor liver function indicators to ensure patient safety and rational medication use. Any symptoms of liver injury such as jaundice, abdominal pain or abnormal liver function should be sought promptly and consideration should be given to reducing or stopping drug use.
