There is currently no clear evidence that avatrombopag causes an increase in blood sugar. Avatrombopag mainly acts on the thrombopoietin receptor, increasing the number of platelets by stimulating platelet production in the bone marrow, and is used to treat idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Although avatrombopag may cause side effects such as headaches and nausea in some patients, its ability to affect blood sugar levels is not currently known. However, individual responses may vary, so patients should monitor their blood sugar levels closely while taking avatrombopag and report any changes to their doctor if necessary. At the same time, patients who already have diabetes or have poor blood sugar control should pay special attention to monitoring blood sugar and follow the doctor's guidance for adjustments.
