Avatrombopag is a drug used to treat idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) by stimulating platelet production in the bone marrow to increase the number of platelets. Although shown to be effective in the treatment of ITP, avatrombopag is not a treatment for aplastic anemia. Aplastic anemia is a rare bone marrow disorder usually associated with hematopoietic insufficiency of the bone marrow, resulting in a reduced number of platelets, red blood cells, and white blood cells. Treatment of aplastic anemia usually involves bone marrow transplantation, immunosuppressants, drug therapy, and supportive care, with the goal of promoting bone marrow regeneration and restoring normal hematopoietic function. The mechanism of action of avatrombopag is mainly by stimulating platelet production. For aplastic anemia, which involves damage to the whole blood cell line (including red blood cells and white blood cells), its effect does not have a comprehensive therapeutic effect.
