Should I lower my blood pressure before taking dabrafenib?

If a patient requires dabrafenib and has concurrent hypertension, it is generally recommended to control blood pressure to a relatively stable level before initiating dabrafenib treatment. This is because hypertension may be one of the adverse effects of dabrafenib treatment, and the presence of hypertension may increase the risk of cardiovascular events. Therefore, controlling blood pressure may mitigate potential cardiovascular risks during dabrafenib treatment. However, whether and to what extent blood pressure needs to be lowered before initiating dabrafenib treatment should be determined by the physician based on the patient's individual circumstances and treatment goals. Doctors may determine the most appropriate treatment plan based on the patient's overall health, the severity of high blood pressure, and other potential cardiovascular risk factors.
