(1) Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and running water before taking medicine.
(2) Tilt the head back and gently pull the lower eyelid downward to form a pouch.
(3). Drop the eye drops into the bag, making sure that the mouth of the tube does not come into contact with the eyes, eyelids or any surface to prevent contamination.
(4) After taking the medicine, close your eyes and blink several times to distribute the eye drops evenly.
(5). Use a clean tissue to wipe off excess eye drops around the eyes, and tighten the cap of the tube immediately.

5. Important precautions
(1) Contraindications: It is absolutely prohibited to use for active eye infections, especially viral (such as herpes simplex keratitis), fungal or mycobacterial infections.
(2) Monitoring requirements: If used for more than 10 days, intraocular pressure (IOP) needs to be monitored regularly to prevent glaucoma.
(3) Other tips: Contact lenses are not allowed during treatment. If symptoms do not improve after 2 days of taking the medication, you should return for a follow-up visit.
Medication Guide for Loteprednol Suspension Eye Drops (Lotemax) for Special Populations
1. Pregnant women
There is a lack of sufficient research on pregnant women. Animal experiments show that oral administration has a risk of teratogenesis. It should be used with extreme caution and under the guidance of a physician only when the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus.
2. Breastfeeding women
It is not clear whether the drug will be secreted into human milk. The benefits of breastfeeding and the clinical needs of the mother should be taken into consideration to make careful decisions about whether to take the drug or stop breastfeeding.
3. Children
The safety and effectiveness of loteprednol suspension eye drops in pediatric patients have not been established and its use is not recommended.
4. The elderly (65 years and above)
Clinical studies have found no overall differences in safety and effectiveness between the elderly and young adult patients. Usually no dose adjustment is necessary, but routine monitoring should be performed.
Principles for handling missed doses of Loteprednol Suspension Eye Drops (Lotemax)
1. If it is close to the time for the next dose when you remember it
Skip the missed dose and use the next dose directly at the originally planned time. Do not use double the dose to make up for the missed dose.
2. If you remember that there is still a long time before the next dose of medication
You should take a supplementary dose immediately, and then postpone the subsequent medication time accordingly to ensure a reasonable interval between the two doses.
