Lifitegrast eye drops can be used to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED). The English name is Lifitegrast, Xiidra. Important information you need to know before using Xiidra is as follows:

Xiidra is used for the eyes.

Wash your hands before each use to ensure you don't get eye infections while using Xiidra.

If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Xiidra.

Xiidra single-use containers are packaged in foil pouches. Do not remove from the foil bag before preparing Xiidra.

Do not allow the tip of the Xiidra disposable container to come into contact with your eyes or any other surface.

Use 1 drop of Xiidra in each eye twice daily (1 drop in the morning and evening, approximately 12 hours apart). Each single-use container of Xiidra will provide you with enough medication to treat both eyes, once. Each disposable container comes with some extra Xiidra in case you miss a drop in your eye. After you have finished applying the eye drops, discard the disposable container and any unused Xiidra. Do not save any unused Xiidra.

Follow steps 1 through 9 each time you use Xiidra.

Step 1. Remove an aluminum foil bag from the Xiidra box. Open the packaging bag and take out the disposable container strip (see Figure A).

Remove a disposable container from the reagent strip (see Figure B).

Step 2. Place the remaining disposable container strips back into the bag (see Figure C).

Fold the edges to seal the bag (see Figure D).

Step 3. Hold the Xiidra container upright (see Figure E).

Tap the top of the container until all solution is at the bottom of the container (see Figure F).

Step 4. Unscrew the label and open the Xiidra disposable container. Make sure the tip of the disposable container does not touch anything to avoid contamination (see Figure g).

Step 5. Tilt your head back. If you can't tilt your head, lie down.

Step 6. Gently pull your lower eyelid downward and look upward.

Step 7. Hold the tip of the Xiidra disposable container close to your eye, but be careful not to touch your eye with it.

Step 8. Gently squeeze the disposable container so that a drop of Xiidra falls into the space between your lower eyelid and eye. If the eye drops miss the eye, try again (see Figure H).

Step 9. Repeat steps 5-8 for the other eye. For both eyes, there is enough Xiidra in a disposable container. After applying one drop to both eyes, discard the open disposable container and any remaining solution.

If you use contact lenses, wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back into your eyes.
