Elagolix Sodium (Orilissa) Side Effects

Common side effects of elagolix sodium (Orilissa) include hot flashes, night sweats, headaches, nausea, difficulty sleeping, no menstruation, anxiety, joint pain, depression and mood changes. Patients have different physical constitutions and conditions, and their symptoms after taking the drug are also different.

Treatment of Elagolix Sodium (Orilissa) Side Effects

1. Hot flashes and night sweats: Wear light, breathable clothing, maintain indoor ventilation, and avoid spicy food and caffeine. You can try using cold wet towels or fans to relieve discomfort, maintain a regular daily routine, get enough sleep, and avoid staying up late.

2. Headache: Rest, relax, and avoid over-medication. You can try warm or cold compresses and massage your head or neck to relieve pain.

3. Nausea: Avoid greasy and spicy food, eat a light and balanced diet, and use anti-nausea drugs as prescribed by your doctor.

4. Difficulty sleeping: Maintain good sleeping habits, avoid taking long naps, establish a regular work and rest time, and create a quiet and comfortable sleeping environment. If necessary, try natural remedies such as meditation and deep breathing.

5. No menstruation: If symptoms of no menstruation occur, please consult a gynecologist for more detailed examination and treatment suggestions.

6. Anxiety, depression and mood changes: Seek help from psychological counseling or psychotherapy, communicate with professionals, learn techniques to cope with and relieve anxiety and depression, maintain a positive and optimistic attitude, and share your feelings with family and friends.

7. Joint pain: moderate exercise and stretching, maintain an appropriate weight, use painkillers as prescribed by your doctor, and try hot or cold compresses to relieve pain.

Precautions for Orilissa

1. Elagolix sodium can cause a dose-dependent decrease in bone mineral density (BMD). Consider evaluation of BMD in patients with a history of low-trauma fractures or other risk factors for osteoporosis or bone loss. Limit the duration of medication to reduce bone loss.

2. Women taking Orilissa may experience a decrease in the amount, intensity, or duration of menstrual bleeding, which may reduce the ability to promptly identify the occurrence of pregnancy. If pregnancy is confirmed, discontinue Orilissa.

3. Patients with new or worsening depression, anxiety, or other mood changes should be referred to a mental health professional as appropriate. If suicidal thoughts and behaviors occur, patients are advised to seek immediate medical attention.

4. In clinical trials, elagolix sodium (Orilissa) treatment resulted in a dose-dependent increase in serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT). Patients with elevated liver function test results should be evaluated promptly to determine whether the benefits of continued treatment outweigh the risks.

5. It is recommended that female patients use effective non-hormonal contraceptives during treatment with elagolix sodium (Orilissa) and within 28 days after stopping treatment with elagolix sodium (Orilissa).
