1. General discomfort: dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, chills, myalgia, joint pain, abnormal liver function and hypotension. Immediate discontinuation of the drug and supportive therapy can lead to recovery in most cases.

2. Hematopoietic function: It may cause dose-related and reversible bone marrow suppression, common leukopenia, and occasionally anemia and thrombocytopenic purpura.

3. Infection: Organ transplant recipients taking azathioprine and adrenocortical hormones have increased susceptibility to viral, fungal and bacterial infections.

4. Gastrointestinal reactions: Occasionally nausea can be relieved by taking medicine after meals. Pancreatitis is rare.

5. Pulmonary reaction: rare reversible pneumonia.

Side effects of hormones: Short-term use of hormones generally does not cause serious side effects. Long-term use of hormones may lead to osteoporosis, obesity, adverse effects on the cardiovascular system, and gastric ulcers. In addition, there may be blood sugar metabolism disorders, and if the drug is stopped suddenly, it may lead to repeated attacks of the disease.

One is a hormone and the other is an immunosuppressant, both of which have different side effects. It can be seen that long-term use of hormones has greater side effects.
