(Nexium)’s approved indications are for the prevention of recurrence of gastric ulcers and duodenal bulb ulcers in patients receiving nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Esomeprazole’s approved indications in Japan include reflux esophagitis and non-erosive reflux disease (NERD). On July 30, 2020, AstraZeneca announced that the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) officially approved esomeprazole (Nexium) injection for the prevention of stress ulcer bleeding in severe patients. Today let’s take a closer look at the Indian version of esomeprazole: Is it expensive?
According to the Medical Companion Brigade, the Japanese version of esomeprazole (Nexium) costs around 1,900, and the Indian version costs around 500. Since exchange rates fluctuate and prices are not fixed, please consult Medical Travel for specific prices.
100 patients with duodenal ulcers were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group, with 50 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were given omeprazole treatment, while the experimental group was given esomeprazole (Nexium) enteric-coated capsules. The clinical treatment effects and HP eradication rates of the two groups were compared.
Results: After treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in the total effective rate, HP eradication rate, adverse reaction rate, and abdominal pain relief rate between the two groups of patients after 3 days of treatment (P>0.05). One day after treatment, the abdominal pain relief rate of patients in the experimental group was 42.0%, which was significantly higher than the 22.0% in the control group (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Esomeprazole (Nexium) enteric-coated capsules in the treatment of duodenal ulcer have significant clinical effects, high HP eradication rate and low incidence of adverse reactions, and are worthy of promotion and application.
How to take esomeprazole (Nexium): 1. For patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease who cannot take oral medication, it is recommended to inject 20-40 mg of this product intravenously once a day. Patients with reflux esophagitis should use 40 mg once daily; for symptomatic treatment of reflux disease, 20 mg should be used once daily. This product should usually be used for a short period of time (no more than 7 days) and should be converted to oral treatment whenever possible. 2. For patients with Forrest grade LLC-III acute gastric or duodenal ulcer bleeding who cannot take oral medication, it is recommended to inject 40 mg of this product intravenously every 12 hours for 5 days.
Esomeprazole (Nexium) is the S-isomer of omeprazole. It reduces gastric acid secretion through a specific raking action mechanism and is a specific inhibitor of proton pumps in parietal cells. Site and mechanism of action: Esomeprazole is a weak base, which is concentrated in the high-acid environment of parietal cell acid secretion microtubules and converted into an active form, thereby inhibiting H+/k+-ATP (proton pump) at this site, inhibiting both basic gastric acid secretion and stimulated gastric acid secretion.
The above is the price content of (Nexium), I hope it can help you!
