使用达那唑治疗之前注意事项有哪些?
Precautions before using danazol
1. It is forbidden to use danazol during pregnancy.
It is recommended that a sensitive test capable of determining early pregnancy (beta subunit test, if available) be performed immediately before starting treatment. In addition, non-hormonal contraceptive methods should be used during treatment. If a patient becomes pregnant while taking danazol, the medication should be discontinued and the patient should be informed of the potential risk to the fetus.
2. Breast cancer should be ruled out before starting danazol to treat fibrocystic breast disease.
3. Patients should be closely observed for signs of androgen effects, some of which may be irreversible even if administration is stopped.
4. Because danazol may cause some degree of fluid retention, diseases that may be affected by this factor need to be carefully observed, such as epilepsy, migraine, cardiac or renal insufficiency, polycythemia, and hypertension. Diabetic patients should use with caution.
1. Because hepatic dysfunction manifested by moderate elevations in serum aminotransferase levels has been reported in patients receiving danazol, liver function tests should be performed periodically.
2. It has been reported that taking danazol can cause symptoms of acute intermittent porphyria to worsen. Laboratory monitoring of hematological status should be considered.
3. Thromboembolic, thrombotic, and thrombotic venous events, including sagittal sinus thrombosis and life-threatening or fatal stroke, have been reported.
4. Long-term treatment experience with danazol is limited.
Liver fibrosis and benign hepatic adenomas have been observed after long-term use. Hepatic hydatid disease and hepatic adenoma may remain silent until complicated by acute, potentially life-threatening intra-abdominal hemorrhage. Therefore, doctors should be alert to this possibility. An attempt should be made to determine the lowest dose that will provide adequate protection. If medication is initiated when hereditary angioedema has worsened due to trauma, stress, or other causes, periodic attempts to reduce or eliminate treatment should be considered.
5. Also associated with several cases of benign intracranial hypertension, known as pseudotumor cerebri. Early signs and symptoms of benign intracranial hypertension include papilledema, headache, nausea and vomiting, and visual disturbances.
6. Patients with these symptoms should be screened for papilledema and, if present, the patient should be advised to immediately discontinue danazol and be referred to a neurologist for further diagnosis and care.
7. It has been reported that during danazol treatment, lipoproteins will temporarily change, manifesting as a decrease in high-density lipoprotein and a possible increase in low-density lipoprotein.
The above are some of the precautions before using danazol for treatment. For more details about danazol, you can read the drug instructions.
