The best time to take it is in the evening before going to bed. The second dose should be taken in the morning without eating.

About progesterone soft capsules

Progesterone, also known as progesterone hormone and luteinizing hormone, is the main biologically active progesterone secreted by the ovary. Oral progesterone capsules after surgery can suppress endometrial hyperplasia, thereby transforming the proliferative phase of the endometrium into the secretory phase, making the endometrium thinner until it falls off.

In recent years, the scope of clinical use of progesterone soft capsules has been gradually broadened. Clinical studies have confirmed that progesterone treatment for patients with anovulatory menstrual disorder can not only significantly repair the damaged endometrium, inhibit excessive endometrial proliferation, but also increase the amount of progesterone receptors in the body and have a hemostatic effect.

Best time to take progesterone soft capsules

The best time to take progesterone soft capsules is at night before going to bed. The second dose should be taken in the morning without eating.

According to the indications, the recommended dosage of progesterone soft capsules is as follows:

1. Used for luteal insufficiency (irregular menstrual cycle)

Each cycle should be taken for 10 days, and it is usually recommended to take 200 mg to 300 mg of progesterone once or twice a day from day 17 to day 26, that is, 200 mg in the evening before going to bed, and another 100 mg in the morning if necessary.

2. For the treatment of menopause

Estrogen monotherapy is not recommended in postmenopausal women with an intact uterus. The progesterone dose of 200 mg should be taken as a single dose at bedtime at least 12 to 14 days per month, the last two weeks of each treatment cycle. Without hormone replacement therapy, bleeding may occur over the next week.

Special warning for progesterone soft capsules

Progesterone soft capsules are not intended to be used as birth control pills. If you start taking this medication too early in your menstrual cycle (especially before day 15 of your menstrual cycle), it may cause a shortened menstrual cycle or bleeding.

1. Patients with previous venous thromboembolic disease must be closely monitored.

2. Patients with uterine bleeding should not take progesterone soft capsules before the cause of bleeding is confirmed through endometrial examination.

3. Since metabolic risks and thromboembolism risks cannot be completely ruled out, you should stop taking it if the following conditions occur:

(1) Eye diseases, such as impaired vision, diplopia and retinal vascular disease;

(2) Venous thromboembolism or thrombotic event, regardless of where it occurs;

(3) Severe headache.

4. If the patient develops amenorrhea during treatment, make sure she is not pregnant.

Progesterone Soft Capsules Drug Interactions

1. Simultaneous use of drugs that induce hepatic CYP450-3A4 may increase progesterone excretion. These drugs include barbiturates, anticonvulsants (such as phenytoin, carbamazepine), rifampicin, phenylbutyric acid, spironolactone, gliclazide, certain anti-infectives (such as ampicillin, tetracycline), and herbal medicines.

2. Medications containing St. John's wort.

3. Ketoconazole and other CYP450-3A4 enzyme inhibitors may increase the bioavailability of progesterone.

4. Progesterone may affect the results of various laboratory tests, such as liver function tests and/or endocrine function tests.

5. Progestins can reduce glucose tolerance, thereby increasing insulin resistance or resistance to other antidiabetic drugs in patients with diabetes.
