Common side effects of avatrombopag maleate/Sucoxin
Avatrombopag is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist for the treatment of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Its side effects are relatively controllable, but it still requires close monitoring during clinical use. The most common adverse reactions include headache, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, and upper respiratory tract infection. Most of these reactions are mild to moderate, occur with a relatively low incidence, and can usually be alleviated by symptomatic treatment or short-term dose adjustment.
Excessive platelet elevation is one of the potential risks specific to avatrepopag. In some patients, platelet counts may exceed the safe upper limit, increasing the risk of thrombosis, if the dosage is inappropriate or the drug is sensitive. Therefore, during clinical use, platelet counts must be monitored regularly and the dose must be adjusted in time based on dynamic changes in platelets. For patients with a history of thrombosis, special caution is needed, and anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy may be combined if necessary.
In addition, some patients may develop mild abnormalities in liver function, such as elevated transaminases, which are related to changes in drug metabolism and liver blood flow. In patients with chronic liver disease, this change is usually reversible and returns to normal after discontinuation of the drug or dose adjustment. Therefore, during the treatment process, regular monitoring of liver function indicators is a key link to ensure safety.
Rarely, avatrombopag may cause an allergic reaction, including rash, itching, or local redness. Although serious allergic events are rare, if breathing difficulties, facial swelling, or systemic reactions occur, the drug should be discontinued immediately and first aid measures should be taken. Adverse effects of avatrombopag are generally mild and predictable compared with platelet transfusions, making it more clinically manageable.
Taken together, avatrombopag, as a modern thrombopoietin receptor agonist, has shown reliable efficacy in increasing platelet counts and reducing the risk of bleeding during surgery and invasive procedures, while its side effects are relatively controllable.
