Canafenib/encofenib efficacy and side effects
Canafenib/EncorafenibAs aBRAF inhibitor, it is mainly used to treat cancers with BRAF V600 mutations, includingmelanoma, non-small cell lung cancer and colorectal cancer. BRAF gene mutations play an important role in many malignant tumors, promoting the proliferation and invasive expansion of tumor cells. By targeting the BRAF V600 mutation, Encofenib can effectively inhibit the growth of tumor cells and improve the clinical prognosis of patients.
For melanoma patients, especiallyadvanced melanoma that is BRAF V600 mutation-positive, Encofenib has a significant effect. It can significantly inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells, delay disease progression, and improve the overall survival of patients. For patients with non-small cell lung cancer and colorectal cancer, encofenib can also effectively improve the treatment effect, especially when combined with other drug treatments, the effect is more significant.
However, although encofenib has significant efficacy in treating BRAF mutation-related cancers, it may also cause a series of side effects. Common side effects include rash, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue and diarrhea. Skin rash is one of the most common side effects and usually occurs early in treatment. In most patients, the rash resolves with continued treatment. Nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite are usually caused by the irritating effect of drugs on the gastrointestinal tract. Patients can take anti-nausea drugs or adjust their diet under the guidance of a doctor to alleviate these symptoms.
In addition, encofenib may also cause liver function abnormalities, and patients need to undergo regular liver function tests during treatment. If significant increases in liver enzyme levels are found, dose adjustment or drug suspension should be considered. Cardiac side effects, such as QT interval prolongation, are also potential risks of encofenib. QT interval prolongation may increase the risk of serious cardiac arrhythmias, so electrocardiogram monitoring is required during use of this drug.
Some rare side effects include increased blood sugar, high blood pressure, and eye problems such as blurred vision or eye pain. Although these side effects are rare, they still require the attention of patients and doctors.
