What are the most serious side effects of using domestically produced Dasatinib?
During the use of domestically produced dasatinib, **pleural effusion (pleural effusion)** is considered to be one of the most vigilant adverse reactions. Some patients will develop respiratory symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, and cough. In severe cases, it may even affect oxygenation function and require hospitalization. The occurrence of pleural effusion is related to factors such as dose, age, and concomitant medications. Treatment may require suspending medication, using diuretics or glucocorticoids, and performing pleural puncture to draw fluid when necessary.
While dasatinib exerts its anti-leukemia effect, it will also affect normal bone marrow function, leading to bone marrow suppression such as neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia. A significant decrease in neutrophils can increase the risk of infection, and severe thrombocytopenia may lead to bleeding. Most of these conditions are reversible, but regular blood test monitoring is required. Once abnormalities are found, the dosage should be adjusted or the medication should be suspended.
In addition to inhibiting BCR-ABL, dasatinib may also interfere with platelet function. Therefore, some patients may experience skin ecchymosis, nosebleeds, gum bleeding, and even gastrointestinal bleeding during treatment. Especially when myelosuppression is combined with thrombocytopenia, the risk of bleeding is significantly increased. For patients with bleeding tendencies or who are being treated with anticoagulant drugs, doctors will more carefully assess the risks and reduce or change the drug if necessary.
A relatively rare but potentially fatal adverse reaction is pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). This side effect may only appear after long-term medication. The initial symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, decreased exercise tolerance, etc. If not recognized and intervened in time, it may develop into severe cardiopulmonary dysfunction. Once PAH is suspected in a patient, the medication must be stopped immediately and transferred to a specialist for treatment. Although the incidence of such adverse events is low, their seriousness requires great attention.
