How effective is glyceryl phenylbutyrate oral solution (Ravicti)?
Glycerol Phenylbutyrate Oral Liquid (Glycerol Phenylbutyrate Oral Liquid) is an effective drug for the treatment of urea cycle disorders (UCDs), and its therapeutic effect has been fully verified in clinical studies. Its active ingredient, glyceryl phenylbutyrate, is converted in the body to phenylacetate, which can combine with the amino acid glutamine to create a substance that can be cleared by the kidneys. However, because of its sustained-release properties, Ravicti is not suitable for the treatment of acute hyperammonemia. In this case, patients need faster-acting drugs to quickly lower blood ammonia levels before they pose serious health risks.
