How much does molotinib/mometinib cost? Analysis of selling price per box and purchasing methods in 2025
Momelotinib is a triple kinase inhibitor targeting JAK1, JAK2 and ACVR1 and is used to treat adult patients with moderate to high-risk myelofibrosis (MF) with moderate to severe anemia. As a new targeted drug approved by the US FDA in 2023, molotinib has attracted clinical attention due to its triple efficacy on the core symptoms of myelofibrosis - splenomegaly, systemic symptoms and anemia. Unlike traditional JAK inhibitors, molotinib promotes red blood cell production by down-regulating hepcidin levels, thus showing unique advantages in improving anemia, and is especially suitable for patients with significant anemia or transfusion dependence.

Currently, the original drug molotinib has not been officially launched in mainland China, so it cannot be included in the medical insurance reimbursement system. For Chinese patients who need treatment with this drug, they mainly rely on overseas drug purchase channels. In the international market, the common specifications of the US version of the original drugXACDURO series include 100mg, 150mg and 200mg, with 30 tablets per box. Depending on the quotes from different channels and exchange rate changes, the price of the whole box may be around RMB 200,000, which imposes a heavy financial burden. In addition, some European and American versions of drugs are also sold in Hong Kong, Macau or other Asian markets, but the prices are generally higher.
It is worth noting that many countries and regions have launched generic versions of molotinib, providing patients with a more economical treatment option. For example, Lucius Pharmaceutical Factory in Laos has launched a generic version with the same ingredients as the original drug. The price of 100mg*30 tablets is only about 2,000 yuan, which is about one-tenth of the price of the original drug. Although generic drugs may not have the same international clinical data support as the original drugs, they are usually highly consistent with the original drugs in terms of raw materials, dosage and preparation processes, comply with the generic drug registration standards in most countries, and can provide affordable treatment options for patients with limited economic conditions.
