Does Fezonatant affect hormone levels in the body?
Fezolinetant is an oral medication used to relieve menopausal symptoms, especially hot flashes. It interferes with hormone levels in the body through the action of selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERM). Fezonatant does not directly increase estrogen levels in the body like traditional hormone replacement therapy, but indirectly regulates the hormone balance in the body by inhibiting the hot flash regulatory mechanism of the hypothalamus.

The mechanism of action of Fezonatan is mainly through inhibiting the secretion of neuropeptides Y (NPY) and luteinizing hormone (LH), both of which are usually closely related to the occurrence of hot flashes in menopausal women. Through this mechanism, Fezonatant helps stabilize the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, thereby relieving hot flashes and other menopausal-related symptoms.
Fezonatant differs from traditional hormone therapy drugs in how it affects hormone levels in the body. It does not cause significant fluctuations in estrogens or progesterone levels, so women using filzonetant are less susceptible to high hormonal levels or hormone-related side effects (such as breast hyperplasia, risk of blood clots, etc.) than hormone replacement therapy.
Although fizonitant has a small direct effect on hormone levels, hormone levels in the body still need to be monitored regularly during treatment, especially in patients with a history of hormone-sensitive diseases (such as breast cancer, endometriosis, etc.). By evaluating the efficacy and safety of the treatment, we ensure that hormone levels are in balance during treatment to avoid unnecessary health risks.
