Dexmethylphenidate (Azstarys) is an oral capsule preparation, which is formulated from two ingredients: Serdexmethylphenidate and dexmethylphenidate (d-Methylphenidate, d-MPH) in a fixed ratio. Each capsule contains different doses of active substances to meet individual treatment needs. The main specifications currently on the market in the United States include: (52.3mg/10.4mg) × 100 capsules, (39.2mg/7.8mg) × 100 capsules and (26.1mg/5.2mg) × 100 capsules. The former value represents the content of simelicide (prodrug), and the latter value represents the content of active dexmethylphenidate. Pharmacologically, the capsules of dexmethylphenidate adopt special controlled-release technology to release the active ingredients in stages. Since pharmaceutical ingredients are easily damaged by humidity, it is recommended to store capsules in a dry place and avoid placing them in environments with high humidity such as bathrooms or kitchens. After each bottle is opened, make sure the bottle cap is tightly closed to prevent air oxidation or accidental ingestion by children.

Dexmethylphenidate is in capsule oral dosage form, which can be swallowed whole. Do not chew or break it for use to avoid damaging the controlled release structure. If the patient has difficulty swallowing, the capsule content can be poured into a small amount of soft food under the guidance of a doctor, but it must be consumed immediately to avoid loss of efficacy.
