How effective is lapatinib tosylate?

Lapatinib (Lapatinib) is an oral small molecule epidermal growth factor tyrosine kinase inhibitor that can inhibit the activity of ErbB-1 and ErbB-2, thereby blocking the growth and proliferation of tumor cells. The drug is mainly used to treat advanced or metastatic breast cancer with overexpression of HER2, especially for patients who have received drug treatment including anthracyclines, paclitaxel, trastuzumab and other drugs. In clinical trials, lapatinib tosylate has shown certain efficacy. For example, a study of HER2-positive inflammatory breast cancer showed outstanding efficacy of the drug. Another trial on patients with breast cancer brain metastases also showed that lapatinib tosylate can reduce the size of brain metastases, is effective in some patients, and can prolong the survival of patients.
