Contraindications when taking erlotinib
If the patient is allergic to the components of erlotinib, it is prohibited to use this drug because it may cause a severe allergic reaction. Erlotinib may have adverse effects on the fetus or infant and is therefore contraindicated for use by pregnant and breastfeeding women. During use, effective contraceptive methods should be used to prevent pregnancy. The use of erlotinib is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment as the metabolism and excretion of the drug may be affected, resulting in an increased risk of adverse reactions. The metabolism of erlotinib may be affected. If the patient is taking a strong inhibitor of CYP3A4 or a strong inducer of CYP3A4, the effect and metabolism of the drug may be affected, so simultaneous use with these drugs should be prohibited. Before deciding to use erlotinib, patients should have a detailed discussion with their doctor, sharing their medical history and drug use so that the doctor can fully evaluate the risks and benefits and develop the best treatment plan for the patient.
