Is Tolvaptan a targeted drug?

Tolvaptan tablets (Tolvaptan) are targeted drugs. It interacts with a protein in the kidneys called V2 receptors to reduce the excretion of water in the urine.It works by increasing the amount of water excreted from the body in the form of urine. Expelling fluid from the body helps increase the amount of sodium in the blood. Tolvaptan is commonly used to treat heart failure (a condition in which the heart cannot pump enough blood to all parts of the body), syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) (a condition in which the body produces too much of a natural substance that causes the body to retain water), and to slow the decline in kidney function in adults at risk for rapidly progressive autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD).
