Cycloserine (Cycloserine) is a second-line anti-tuberculosis drug, especially used to treat patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) or extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB), and has an important clinical status. It exerts a bactericidal effect by inhibiting the synthesis of the cell wall of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and may still be effective against strains resistant to first-line drugs such as isoniazid and rifampicin. However, the drug has obvious side effects, especially its impact on the central nervous system, with common symptoms such as anxiety, depression, hallucinations and even epileptic seizures. Therefore, when using cycloserine, doctors often add vitamin B6 to prevent neurotoxicity, and at the same time, regularly monitor liver and kidney function and mental status. For those with a history of epilepsy or mental illness, use caution or use an alternative.
