Is linezolid safe to treat drug-resistant tuberculosis? Are there any serious side effects?
Linezolid (Linezolid) is an oxazolidinone antibiotic that was originally used to treat Gram-positive bacterial infections, but has been included in the treatment regimen for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) in recent years. It has been shown to be potent in inhibiting Mycobacterium tuberculosis, especially strains that are resistant to conventional drugs. However, long-term use of linezolid can cause a series of side effects, including bone marrow suppression (such as anemia, leukopenia), peripheral neuropathy, and lactic acidosis. The risk increases significantly after continuous use for more than one month. Therefore, blood routine, liver and kidney function, electrolytes and neurological symptoms need to be closely monitored during treatment.
